John 3:16-21: For God So Loved the World

October 9, 2021

TODAY'S BIBLE READING:

Jeremiah 19-22Ecclesiastes 7:1-14John 3:16-21James 4:11-17

John 3:16-21:

Note: As we go through John’s Gospel together over the next few weeks, I refer you to the broadcasts from the Gospel of John which will provide more commentary on the passage. Here is the link to the sermon related to today’s passage: God So Loved the World.

Take, then, and read this section of John, and this morning simply reflect on the following bullet points:

  • What do these verses tell us about the nature of God? If God has such great love for such bad people, then what does this mean in terms of our joyful worship of him?
  • What are the only two alternatives? If there is no “third way” beyond life on the one hand and condemnation on the other, what sort of passionate commitment to the gospel does this necessitate?
  • Why do people not come into the light then?
  • Why do people come to the light?
