John 4:43-54: Your Son Will Live
Jeremiah 35-38, Ecclesiastes 11, John 4:43-54, 1 Peter 1:10-16
Note: As we go through John’s Gospel together over the next few weeks, I refer you to the broadcasts from the Gospel of John which will provide more commentary on the passage. Here are links to the two sermons related to today’s passage: Your Son Will Live, Part 1, and Your Son Will Live, Part 2.
Take, then, and read this section of John, and this morning simply reflect on the following bullet points:
- A prophet has no honor in his own hometown; why do you think that is? Is it possible to miss what God is saying to you through the Bible through overfamiliarity?
- Contrast this with verse 50: the man believed. Can you this morning so reflect on what you know about Jesus that you are able to trust Jesus for that which you do not know?
- His household believed: how could you be praying for those closest to you, family and friends, that they might also come to believe? What could you do to share the gospel with your “household”?
