Becoming Poor in Spirit
A Word from Josh
Jesus says we must be “poor in spirit” to enjoy the blessings of his Kingdom. Does that mean we must become wimpy, spineless creatures? Must we tear ourselves down, crying, “I’m not worthy”? Surely he has something better in mind for us!
Our series this month is “Steps to Blessing.” As we consider the Beatitudes in Matthew 5, we will find several characteristics that must be in place for us to receive the blessings of God—one of which is being “poor in spirit” (verse 3).
